The aim of this section is to present certain subjects for which an explanation of the French system may be useful (for example, the various definitions of floor areas in French construction law (SHON, SHOB, surface utile, etc.), "classified installations", pre-sale and pre-rental analyses concerning termites and energy performance, etc.), or where the use of certain translations can be debatable (e.g. "penalty clauses" v. "liquidated damages clauses").
