French to English Legal Translation

Approach

- understanding the source, rendering in legally comprehensible terms.
- not distorting the sense in order to make the translation "fit" English law. A translator is not a substitute for a local lawyer if a contract is to be applied in several legal systems, and a "more or less" equivalent concept may well have a greatly differing effect in reality (for a pet subject, see "liquidated damages" (link))

N.B.: see "Footnotes" section for further ramblings on the use of "legalese" (link).
